The Fläpps 40x40-1 shelf by AMBIVALENZ rests on a simple idea: a panel that folds against the wall when not in use, and unfolds into a shelf whenever needed. Designed by Anastasia Euchermann, it is made of birch plywood coated with coloured HPL and stainless steel hinges, a combination that explains both its lightness and its solidity.
The Criss Cross Rouge finish prints a graphic pattern on the visible face of the top. Closed, the shelf becomes a wall element in its own right, almost a painting. Open, it offers a clean surface to place a few books, everyday objects or a light source, without ever cluttering the room.
This square format suits corridors, entrances and small spaces where every centimetre counts. It can also be arranged in compositions, several modules aligned or staggered creating a rhythm on the wall. The stated load capacity allows for real use, not just decorative.
