The Fläpps shelf by AMBIVALENZ rests on a simple idea: a wall panel that unfolds when needed and closes flat when space is lacking. This vertical model, in birch plywood coated with coloured HPL and stainless steel hinges, fixes to the wall and releases a shelf in compact format, suited to an entrance, a corridor or a desk corner.
The Alps finish carries the illustration by Joe Mania, illustrator who signs here a mountain motif. Folded, the panel becomes a picture hung on the wall; unfolded, it becomes storage again. This double reading makes all the interest of the Fläpps series, designed for interiors where each surface must count twice.
Despite its lightness, the shelf supports a serious load, enough to accommodate books, everyday objects or a small plant. Several modules can be aligned or stacked to compose a bespoke ensemble, vertically as well as horizontally.
