The Fläpps shelf by AMBIVALENZ rests on a simple principle: a panel that folds against the wall when not needed, and unfolds into a shelf as soon as a book, a vase or a pair of glasses seeks a place. The stainless steel mechanism remains visible, embraced as an element of the design rather than concealed. Closed, the shelf becomes a flat rectangle, almost a picture hung vertically.

The birch plywood receives here a coloured HPL coating designed by Monika Strigel. The Fading Grey motif plays on a gradient of grey that fades progressively, a discreet graphic that works both folded and unfolded. The narrow, tall format suits hallways, entryways, bedroom corners or any wall where depth is lacking.

The construction remains light, which facilitates installation, without sacrificing load capacity. One can multiply the modules on the same wall, offset them, stack them, and compose a personal rhythm rather than a uniform storage solution.
