Ambivalenz

AMBIVALENZ — design that knows how to disappear.

Founded in Berlin in 2012, AMBIVALENZ has come up with a new way of designing furniture: pieces that take their place when you need them, and know how to disappear when you no longer use them.

It all began with Fläpps, a folding chair designed to look like a painting when hung on the wall. From this idea grew an entire wall-mounted furniture system: desks, shelves, tables, clothes rails and dressing tables unfold in a single movement and fold flat again to free up space.

With Curt, AMBIVALENZ takes this philosophy even further. This modular sofa is based on a single type of module, which can be freely assembled, separated and rearranged. A straight sofa one day, a corner sofa the next: the configuration evolves to suit your mood and your space.

Behind every creation lies the same conviction: a good piece of furniture should not impose a way of living on us. It should be functional, durable, discreet and flexible enough to evolve with us.

AMBIVALENZ therefore favours ideas over stylistic effects, clever mechanisms over superfluous decoration, and durability over constant renewal. Modules, covers and parts can be replaced or added separately, while manufacturing takes place within the European Union.

Furniture designed for today, but above all for all the days to come.
