The Fläpps 40x40-1 shelf by AMBIVALENZ rests on a simple idea: a panel that folds flat against the wall when not in use, and unfolds into a shelf as soon as you need it. The square format remains discreet, in an entrance, above a desk or along a narrow corridor where every centimetre counts.
The structure combines birch plywood coated with coloured HPL and stainless steel elements. The white finish unifies the whole and allows the shelf to blend into a light wall. Despite its lightness, the shelf accepts a serious load, enough to hold books, everyday objects or a small plant.
The Fläpps system lends itself to composition: several modules aligned or stacked create a bespoke wall storage, which closes partially according to daily uses. A clear answer for compact interiors as well as for layouts that prefer clean lines.
