The Fläpps 40x40-1 shelf belongs to the family of foldable wall storage by AMBIVALENZ. Fixed to the wall, it unfolds to offer a shelf ready to hold books, objects or plants, then folds flat against the partition when the space must remain free. The square, compact format fits into a corridor, above a desk or in a child's bedroom.
The construction combines birch plywood coated with coloured HPL and stainless steel hinges. This coating gives the surface its printed appearance and ensures good resistance to use. Despite its lightness, the shelf supports a generous load, which allows real storage and not only decorative.
The Snowdreamer motif is signed by Monika Strigel. Closed, the shelf becomes a picture hung on the wall; open, it resumes its storage role. Several modules can be combined to compose a rhythmic wall sequence.
