The Fläpps shelf by AMBIVALENZ fixes to the wall and folds back against it when no longer needed. This single-compartment model keeps a discreet footprint and slips in where a classic shelf would not find its place: a hallway, a bedroom corner, the wall above a desk. Open, it holds books, objects or small plants; closed, it becomes a flat panel again.
The structure combines birch plywood clad in coloured HPL with a stainless steel hinge. This coating gives a clean surface, easy to maintain, and a clear shade that crosses the whole room. The Fading Grey finish, designed by Monika Strigel, plays on a grey gradient that softens the rectangular graphic of the whole.
Despite its lightness, the shelf supports a serious load, which makes it as much a storage as a decorative element. Several units can be combined on the same wall to compose a wider configuration, horizontally as well as vertically.
