The Fläpps shelf by AMBIVALENZ rests on a simple idea: a wall panel that unfolds when needed and closes flat the rest of the time. This vertical model with one shelf takes up little space on the wall and completely frees the passage once folded down. The stainless steel hinge ensures the movement, without visible mechanism or superfluous hardware.
The Alps version carries a motif signed by Joe Mania, printed on the birch plywood coated with coloured HPL. Closed, the shelf reads like a picture hung on the wall; open, it becomes a storage surface again. This dual status suits rooms where every centimetre counts: entrance, hallway, office corner, children's room.
Despite its lightness, the shelf supports a serious load and accommodates books, plants or everyday objects. The fineness of the panel and the sharpness of the edges give the whole a graphic look, to be combined with other Fläpps modules to compose a bespoke wall installation.
