The Fläpps shelf by AMBIVALENZ rests on a simple idea: a wall panel that unfolds when needed and closes when space becomes a priority again. Closed, it disappears against the wall and shows only a flat surface. Open, it offers a stable shelf, ready to hold books, plants or everyday objects. This narrow and vertical format finds its place in an entrance, a corridor or a corner of a room where a classic piece of furniture would not fit.

The construction combines birch plywood coated with coloured HPL and stainless steel hinges. The HPL protects the surface and gives the pattern a clean finish, whilst the mechanism ensures a smooth movement with no play. The Watercolor Stripes finish, designed by the studio Kind of Style, plays with bands in blended shades that bring colour to a bare wall without resorting to a frame or a poster.

Fixed directly to the wall, the shelf frees up the floor entirely. It works alone as a graphic accent, or combines with other modules from the Fläpps family to create a larger arrangement, adapted to the ceiling height and the uses of the room.
