The Fläpps shelf by AMBIVALENZ rests on a simple principle: a panel that folds against the wall when no longer needed. Closed, it becomes an almost graphic flat surface; open, it offers a stable storage surface, supported by a stainless steel hinge. This narrow vertical format slips into a hallway, next to a door or above a desk, where a conventional piece of furniture would not find its place.
The Watercolor Dots version was designed by Kind of Style studio. Dots with diffuse contours, treated like a watercolour, cover the visible face of the panel. The pattern is printed on a coloured HPL coating applied to birch plywood, a construction that retains lightness whilst bearing a real load.
Fläpps readily lends itself to a series: several aligned or staggered modules compose a modular wall assembly, where each shelf opens independently. A solution for small spaces, but also for those who like to see the wall change its appearance according to use.
