The Fläpps 40x40 shelf by AMBIVALENZ folds against the wall when no longer needed. A simple gesture is enough to unfold it and reveal a shelf ready to hold books, plants or everyday objects. When closed, it barely protrudes from the wall and reads as a panel hung there.
The construction combines birch plywood clad in coloured HPL and stainless steel hinges. The square format remains discreet and multiplies easily: two or three modules aligned, offset or stacked compose bespoke storage in an entrance, a narrow corridor or above a desk. Despite its lightness, the shelf supports a serious load.
The Watercolor Dots finish, signed by studio Kind of Style, prints a watercolour dot pattern on the visible face. The shelf then plays on two registers depending on its position: wall image when folded, useful surface when open. A simple answer to small spaces that require storage without permanent clutter.
