The Fläpps 40x40-1 shelf by AMBIVALENZ belongs to a family of wall storage units designed to disappear when no longer needed. The principle is simple: the shelf folds against the wall panel, and the whole thing returns to the thickness of a frame hung on the wall. Open, the shelf offers a square top, deep enough to hold books, a plant or a few everyday objects.
The structure combines birch plywood covered with coloured HPL and stainless steel hinges. This Alps finish, designed by Joe Mania, is a graphic that reads as much closed as open: the pattern occupies the entire visible surface and transforms the storage into a wall element in its own right. The load capacity announced remains comfortable for such a compact format.
This single-shelf model suits small spaces, hallways, children's rooms or offices where every centimetre counts. It happily combines with other formats in the Fläpps range to create a bespoke wall installation.
