The Fläpps shoe rack by AMBIVALENZ applies the logic of the Fläpps family to shoe storage: a wall panel that unfolds when needed and closes against the wall the rest of the time. Fixed at entrance height, it completely frees the floor and leaves the passage clear.
The structure combines birch plywood coated with white HPL with stainless steel hinges. The vertical format, taller than it is wide, slips into a narrow corridor or behind a door, where a conventional piece of furniture would not fit. The white finish blends into a light wall and allows the silhouette of the panel to disappear once closed.
Robust despite its lightness, it accommodates several pairs without bending and supports a comfortable load for a wall element. Several units can be aligned or stacked to create bespoke entrance storage, alone or in dialogue with the other pieces in the Fläpps collection.
