The Fläpps shoe rack by AMBIVALENZ is fixed to the wall and completely frees the floor in the entrance. Its two flaps fold against the wall when not in use, leaving a flat surface forty centimetres wide. Once opened, they accommodate everyday pairs at hand height, without effort or obstruction when passing.
The construction combines birch plywood coated with coloured HPL and stainless steel hinges. The panel remains thin, the depth against the wall is contained, and the white finish blends into light walls as well as narrow corridors. The whole supports a comfortable load for wall storage of this format.
Designed for cramped entrances, it also finds its place in a bedroom, a dressing room or a laundry room. The vertical format allows several elements of the Fläpps family to be stacked to create bespoke storage along a partition wall.
