The Fläpps 60x40-1 shelf by AMBIVALENZ rests on a simple principle: a panel that folds against the wall when not in use, and unfolds into a shelf as soon as you need it. The vertical format, about forty centimetres wide, slips into a corridor, above a desk or in an entrance where space is counted by the centimetre. Closed, it forms only a flat surface, almost a picture hung on the wall.

The Wild and Free version bears a visual signed by Ingrid Beddoes, printed on birch plywood coated with coloured HPL. The stainless steel hinges ensure the movement and hold the shelf in the open position. The structure accepts a comfortable load, enough to place books, plants or everyday objects without reservation.

The result is as much furniture as wall image. Folded, the panel becomes decoration; open, it provides the service of a classic shelf. This double reading makes it a relevant solution for small volumes, children's rooms or any wall that deserves better than a simple plank.
