The Fläpps shelf by AMBIVALENZ plays on a narrow vertical format, taller than it is wide, with a contained depth that allows it to slip into circulation spaces, a hallway, an office corner or the recess of a bedroom. The two levels structure the volume without weighing it down and leave room for a few books, a stack of magazines or everyday objects.

The construction combines birch plywood covered with coloured HPL and stainless steel. The HPL provides a smooth, closed surface that is easy to wipe, whilst the birch provides the rigidity required for thin shelves. This uniform black finish creates a clean graphic that stands out against a light wall and fades against a dark surface.

The whole remains light to handle whilst accepting a serious load, making it storage that is easy to move from one room to another as layouts evolve. The rigour of the lines and the absence of ornamentation make it simple to pair, alone or repeated in series, in a contemporary interior as in a more classic project.
