The Alima system conceived by Note Design Studio for &Tradition rests on a fine metal grid that supports the shelves without enclosing them. The chrome-plated structure draws a regular grid, visible but discreet, which allows the storage volumes to breathe. In this low and wide configuration, the piece fits under a window, behind a sofa or along a circulation wall without weighing down the room.
The contrast between steel and wood creates the character of the piece. The lacquered oak veneer tops offer a calm surface, extended by solid lacquered oak edges that neatly close off each shelf. The assembly remains legible from all sides, which makes it possible to use the piece as a room divider as well as against a partition.
Alima accommodates books as well as objects, crockery or baskets, and lends itself to an openly assumed storage. Its regular geometry facilitates composition: one alternates full and empty spaces, leaves certain bays free. A sober vocabulary, close to workshop furniture, which finds its place in a living room as well as in an office.
