Serax and Vincent Van Duysen have teamed up for créer a collection of living room furniture representing the DNA of both institutions, clean and punchy. "I thought it would be a great idea if we could translate a custom product that I make very often in my projects into a publishing piece. The collection Rudolph pays tribute to Rudolf Michael Schindler, a major protagonist of mid-century American modernism. "I have great admiration for him. The mid-century style is very inspiring to my work; think of the typical built-in banquettes that line modern interiors. But the most plus significant inspiration for this collection was the sofa I have in my home in Portugal, because of its proportions, lines and the serenity you feel - looking at it; sitting on it. "
The Rudolph coffee table was the designer's next vision, combining the triumphant firmness of an almost pure marbre top with the simple plus apparatus of a black-lacquered wood leg. Connecting these two raw slabs without external structure and without weighting the wood, meant that Van Duysen had to select robust wood species capable of establishing themselves in your interior in the long term. The obvious interlocking of the two equivalent levels, from which no reinforcement protrudes, is a duo as pure as it is resounding. Or how two heavy blocks cut in proportion are able to inspire a certain finesse in your interior.
