Square side table in black oak 45 x 45 cm Rudolph - Serax

Serax and Vincent Van Duysen have joined forces to create a living room furniture collection embodying the DNA of both institutions: crisp and striking. "I thought it would be a lovely idea if we could translate a bespoke product that I very often make in my projects into an edition piece." The Rudolph collection pays tribute to Rudolf Michael Schindler, a leading protagonist of American mid-century modernism. "I have great admiration for him. The mid-century style is hugely inspiring for my work; think of the typical built-in benches that furnish modern interiors. But the most significant inspiration for this collection was the sofa I have in my house in Portugal, because of its proportions, its lines and the serenity you feel – looking at it; sitting on it."

All in straight-lined correspondences, this side table displays a playful discretion. Be warned, this particular Rudolph is far from rudimentary…! It suits pared-back arrangements just as well as more expansive configurations, forming a "puzzle" across all the available sizes and making the most of the variety of ways in which the supporting plates are positioned.

Wonderfully obliging and quietly playful.
