One-seater sofa in black wood with smoke-coloured cushions 96 x 115 x 72 cm Rudolph - Serax

The Rudolph collection is an entirely new design born of the encounter between the imagination of designer Vincent Van Duysen and the editorial vision of the Serax platform.

The sofa shown here is a variation on the Rudolph ottoman, conceived as the collection's basic module.

The principle is nonetheless the same: generous, quilted cushions sit atop a barely visible central wooden column. The cushion, spilling over its column, seems to gently take over its surroundings, like a vessel engulfing a kingdom or wrapping it in a shawl of wood and aluminium, granting it shelter and serenity.

This dialogue between serenity and strength runs through the work of the designers selected by the Serax platform. It is present even in the designer's chief inspiration, which gave the collection its name: Rudolph. Vincent Van Duysen explains;

"The name Rudolph is derived from Rudolf Michael Schindler, a leading figure of American mid-century modernism. I admire him greatly. The mid-century style is a great source of inspiration for my work; think of the typical built-in benches that furnish modern interiors. But the most significant inspiration for this collection was the sofa I have in my house in Portugal, because of its proportions, its lines and the serenity you feel when looking at it or sitting on it.
