The Fläpps secretary by AMBIVALENZ fixes to the wall and folds away with a gesture when no longer needed. Closed, it forms a flat panel of minimal thickness that blends into the partition. Open, it releases a work surface sufficient for a laptop, a notebook and a lamp, without occupying the floor.
The structure combines birch plywood coated with black HPL, stainless steel parts and canvas straps that hold the flap. The surface supports an appreciable load, enough to accommodate a day's work equipment without hesitation. The uniform black shade gives the whole a graphic design, assumed as a wall element in its own right.
This vertical proportion suits small flats, corridors and bedrooms where one wishes for an occasional workstation. It also finds its place in an entrance, as a folding console. The Fläpps belongs to a family of wall-mounted furniture designed according to the same principle, which allows one to compose a coherent ensemble on the same wall.
