The Fläpps secretary by AMBIVALENZ rests on a simple idea: a wall-mounted flap that unfolds to become a work surface, then folds back against the wall when no longer needed. Closed, it occupies the space of a wall panel. Open, it frees up a surface sufficient for a laptop, a notebook and a lamp, without occupying the floor.
The structure combines birch plywood coated with coloured HPL and stainless steel hinges. The HPL protects the visible face from everyday marks of use, whilst the plywood maintains a contained thickness that explains the discretion of the piece of furniture once folded. The Fading Grey finish, designed by Monika Strigel, plays on a grey gradient that transforms the closed flap into a graphic element.
This format suits small surfaces, corridors, guest rooms and all interiors where a permanent desk would be too much. It also installs in a living room, at chosen height, to serve as an auxiliary workstation. The wall fixing requires a support capable of taking the load.
