The Elsa trivet by Broste Copenhagen brings a simple gesture back to the essential: placing a hot dish on a stable surface, and doing so with an object that deserves to remain on the table. Carved from marble, it plays on the thickness and density of the stone, whose natural veining varies from one piece to another.
Its compact format accommodates a saucepan, an individual casserole or a serving dish without cluttering the centre of the table. The white tone of the marble pairs equally well with dark tableware and with cutlery in brass or stainless steel, and its weight keeps it in place during service.
True to the approach of the Danish house, the object remains discreet and seeks no superfluous decorative effect. Left on a worktop or a sideboard between two meals, it functions just as well as a support for a candle or a small vase.
