The Nordic Carnival mug by Broste Copenhagen adopts the codes of everyday Scandinavian tableware: a simple shape, a clean handle, a slightly tall silhouette that sits well in the hand. The glazed stoneware gives it weight and a reassuring presence, far from overly delicate porcelain.
Its reactive glaze is the heart of the piece. In contact with the heat of the kiln, the glaze develops nuances and reveals variations of soft pink on white, differences in intensity, sometimes drips. Each piece is therefore slightly different from the next, which is the appeal of a naturally mismatched set.
Its capacity suits morning coffee as well as an evening infusion. Combined with the other pieces in the Nordic Carnival family, it creates a cohesive table without falling into uniformity, and easily coordinates with plain tableware already in place.
