The Nordic Carnival mug by Broste Copenhagen belongs to a family of tableware pieces designed for everyday use. Its round and squat stoneware body, topped with a bold handle, sits comfortably in the hand. The capacity corresponds to a long coffee or a cup of morning tea.
The stoneware is covered with a reactive glaze, a glaze that reacts during firing and creates variations in tone and intensity on the surface. Each mug therefore presents its own colour palette, in a blue variation. These irregularities are part of the process and give the whole a handcrafted appearance, far from industrial uniformity.
It pairs with the other pieces in the Nordic Carnival collection to compose a mismatched yet cohesive table, where the shades respond to each other without repeating. A simple object, designed to serve every day rather than remain on display.
