Timberline floor lamp designed by Caprani - Gubi

With its playful expression, organic form and juxtaposition of natural materials, the Timberline floor lamp reissued by Gubi is a sculpture that turns heads in every room of the home.

Designed in the 1970s by Mads Caprani, it stands out visually and quickly became an international design icon. Its lines and details have been carefully considered – such as the inset cord and the adjustable lampshade – and bear witness to Caprani's attention to quality and detail. The lamp's natural materials – oak, birch, canvas and cast iron – and its neutral colour palette allow it to fit into any type of setting.

The lamp takes its name from Caprani's fascination with the timberline – nature's inherent limit to the altitude at which trees can grow, the point of transition in the landscape between wood and rock. In this lamp, he translated the notion of a natural boundary into an abrupt material juxtaposition between wood and iron.
