This visionary synthesis of genius, simplicity and perfection quite simply answered a demand for a pendant light that could illuminate a table without having to drill into the ceiling.

This ingenious floor lamp is one of the most imitated design icons in history.

The heavy marble base is in fact nothing more than a counterweight designed to support the long arched metal stem, inspired by the design of street lamps. The hole located at the base's centre of gravity was not placed there for aesthetic reasons, but to make it easier to lift the base by inserting, for example, a broom handle.
