Pao

Named after the soft, glowing shape of the traditional Mongolian Pao tents lit up at night, Fukasawa sought to recreate that same atmospheric warmth and sense of togetherness in the steel Pao pendant light. Pao draws on Fukasawa's signature aesthetic of beautiful simplicity, creating an everyday object informed by the design values found in the natural world. By keeping the aesthetic modest and understated, the design sits in harmony with its surroundings, reinforcing its original intention of making the atmosphere pleasant and comfortable. Thanks to advances in LED bulb technology, the light source can be concealed within the lampshade, which is closed off by a high-quality acrylic (PMMA) diffuser, achieving a clean, simple design with no visual intrusion. The pendant light's lampshades are made from steel with a gloss finish and come in a range of sizes and colours. Their functionality and the deliberate simplicity of their design allow them to suit a wide variety of spaces and uses in both domestic and professional settings.
