Living Room Ceiling Lights

More than 200 living room ceiling lights from 30 cm to over 70 cm in diameter, in metal, glass, rattan or ceramic, by Sollux, Good & Mojo, Maytoni, Ferroluce or Marset.

A ceiling light illuminates the whole living room without hanging down into the space. It is the answer when the ceiling is low, when people walk under the light or when you want discreet general lighting.

What diameter for a living room ceiling light?

A ceiling light of 30 to 49 cm suits an average-sized living room. Beyond 50 cm, it becomes a decorative feature in its own right, and designs of 70 cm and more are meant for large rooms. In a long, narrow living room, two identical ceiling lights spread the light better than one.

Materials and finishes

Black, gold or white metal is the most common. Glass and ceramic give an even light, while rattan and woven fibres bring warmth and a play of shadow.

Frequently asked questions

Ceiling light or pendant light in a living room?

With a ceiling height of less than 2.40 m, or if the light is in a walkway, a ceiling light is the obvious choice. With more height, or above a table, a pendant light gives a closer light and more presence.

Is a ceiling light enough to light a living room?

It provides the general lighting. For a pleasant atmosphere, add a floor lamp and one or two table lamps, which can be switched on by themselves in the evening.

What size ceiling light for a large room?

In a living room of more than 25 m², choose a diameter of 50 cm or more, or use two ceiling lights. A small design alone in the middle of a large ceiling leaves the corners in shadow.
