Since 2010, Miguel Angel Garcia Belmonte has been paying tribute to the artisanal tradition of his native town of Totana through design work that combines the craft of clay with a demand for contemporary forms. By modernising the tools of production, he has turned this heritage into a benchmark of the ceramic arts in Spain.
Mediterranean at heart, it was by drawing inspiration from all that is mineral, plant-like and alive in this sea that Miguel Angel Garcia Belmonte designed this SpongeRo pendant light! Rounded in shape, it features a band made up of tiny cells echoing those of a sponge, creating an incredible light. Its ceramic has been worked by hand to render with great sensitivity the full richness of these small perforations. A luminous dome, a Milky Way when the pendant light is seen in the dark: this is an object of surprising poetry from Pott.
