Since 2010, Miguel Angel Garcia Belmonte has been paying tribute to the artisanal tradition of his native town of Totana through a design approach that blends clay craftsmanship with a demand for contemporary forms. By modernising production tools, he has turned this heritage into a benchmark for the ceramic arts in Spain.
A Mediterranean at heart, it was by drawing inspiration from all that is mineral, vegetal and alive in this sea that Miguel Angel Garcia Belmonte designed the SpongeOh! pendant light. Cone-shaped, it features a band of cells echoing those of a sponge, thus creating an incredible light. Rounded in form, its ceramic has been hand-worked to render with great sensitivity the full richness of these tiny perforations. A luminous dome on the edge of the Milky Way when the pendant light hangs in the dark, this is an object of surprising poetry delivered to us by Pott.
