La Mère, Marie Michielssen's first line of ceramic tableware, is a loving ode to the (grand)motherly figure and to women in general. The collection appears slightly nostalgic, while being innovative in many ways thanks to its vertical structure. Each shape is unique and hand-modelled. All pieces are finished with an off-white glaze or a warm dark brown, almost black one. As a third contrasting colour, Marie opted for a powerful Venetian red. The designer also deliberately chose these colours to create a mix & match of white and dark brown or of red and dark brown.
