La Mère, Marie Michielssen's first ceramic tableware range, is a fond tribute to the (grand)motherly figure and to women in general. The collection feels gently nostalgic, yet is innovative in many respects thanks to its vertical structure. Every shape is unique and hand-modelled. All the pieces are finished with an off-white or warm dark brown, almost black, glaze. For the third, contrasting colour, Marie chose a powerful Venetian red. The designer also selected these colours to create a mix & match of white and dark brown, or red and dark brown.
