La Mère, Marie Michielssen's first range of ceramic tableware, is an affectionate ode to the (grand)motherly figure and to women in general. The collection has a slightly nostalgic feel, while being innovative in many respects thanks to its vertical structure.

Every shape is unique and hand-modelled. All the pieces are finished with a glaze in off-white or a warm dark brown, almost black. For the third, contrasting colour, Marie opted for a powerful Venetian red.

The designer also deliberately chose these colours to create a mix & match of white and dark brown, or red and dark brown.
