This light produces comfortable, glare-free illumination by applying Poul Henningsen's reflective multi-shade principle, which directs the majority of the light downwards. It casts light out to the sides while illuminating itself, with a soft glow emanating from its centre. The lower shade features a frosted glass diffuser for 100% glare-free downward lighting.

Poul Henningsen developed the PH 5 in 1958 in response to the constantly changing shapes and sizes of incandescent bulbs, creating a lamp that could be used with any light source.

This iconic model is designed according to the same principles as Henningsen's three-shade system, which guarantees soft, pleasant and completely glare-free light, making it the perfect lamp for a dining room.

Originally, the PH 5 was fitted with red and blue shades to enhance the colour of the light, but these were removed in later designs, as modern light sources reproduce daylight far more effectively than in 1958.

Available in a number of different colours, PH 5 is a much-loved and renowned pendant light found in countless homes around the world.
