Pierre Charrié's Shibari mirror is inspired by à la both Japanese bondage techniques and the lifting techniques used in construction. Without the addition of any superfluous gestures, the Shibari mirror transforms its technical characteristics into formal ones, to the point of being plus a faithful and successful representation of its constructive principles and feasibility.
Tying, tension, gravity, suspension could suffice to describe it.
The positioning of its knots and interlacing is guided solely by the concern for perfect balance and suspension at a single point unique. The special braiding of the rope distributes the tension exerted by the weight of the mirror, leaving ensemble to rely on the laws of its main condition: gravity.
