Vintage and futuristic at once, the Eclisse lamp continues to win over new generations, drawn to the practical, legendary aesthetic of 1960s Italian design. To mark the 100th anniversary of Vico Magistretti's birth, Artemide pays tribute to the Italian designer with a special edition of his cult model. Alongside the classic pop colours, there are now 4 new ultra-chic metallic shades in a limited edition, plus a reissue of the yellow colourway.

Designed in 1965, Eclisse is one of Vico Magistretti's greatest achievements: an avant-garde balance between form and function, design and utility. A magic formula that would define the golden age of post-war Italian industrial design. In this surprising little varnished metal lamp, you can recognise the great Italian designer's attraction to bold geometric volumes. The heart of the concept lies in its ability to adjust light intensity thanks to its rotating inner diffuser, which "eclipses" the light source. Eclisse consists of a fixed spherical structure inside which a half-sphere pivots, allowing the light to be directed and its intensity adjusted. Closed to its maximum, Eclisse gives a genuine impression… of an eclipse! Thanks to its fixed outer shell and mobile inner shell, the lamp can provide either direct or diffused light.

The Eclisse lamp won the prestigious Compasso d'Oro award in 1967, becoming an ambassador for Italian design throughout the world. Eclisse is part of the permanent collection of the most important design museums, including the MoMA in New York and the Triennale Design Museum in Milan.
