Vintage and à la times futuristic, the Eclisse lamp continues to seduce new generations, sensitive to the practical and mythical aesthetics of the Italian design of the sixties. On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Vico Magistretti's birth, Artemide pays tribute to the Italian designer with a special edition of its cult model. In addition to the classic pop colors, there are now 4 new ultra chic limited edition metallic colors and a re-edition of the yellow color.
Created in 1965, Eclisse is one of Vico Magistretti's plus great successes: an avant-garde balance between form and function, design and utility. A miracle recipe which will make the beautiful days of the post-war Italian industrial design. We can recognize in this astonishing little lamp in painted metal the attraction of the Italian designer grand for strong geometric volumes. The basis of the concept lies in its functionality of adjusting the intensity of the light thanks to its rotating inner diffuser that "eclipses" the light source. Eclisse compose consists of a fixed spherical structure inside which a half-sphere rotates, allowing the light to be directed and its intensity to be adjusted. Closed at its maximum, Eclisse gives a real impression… of eclipse! Thus, thanks to its fixed outer shell and its mobile inner shell, the lamp can provide direct or diffused light.
The Eclisse lamp won the prestigious Compasso d'Oro award in 1967, becoming the ambassador of the Italian design around the world. Eclisse is included in the collection permanent collection of plus important design museums, including MoMa in New York and the Triennale Design Museum in Milan.
