The result of research by the architect Nisse Strinning for a competition launched by the Bonnier publishing house, these modules have the particularity of having been designed in a strictly economic and functional spirit since they were supposed to equip the majority of Swedish homes.

Nisse Strinning offers an extremely simple system: two easy-to-fasten steel uprights on which wooden shelves can be placed. No special tools are required, the elements can be placed at the desired height, are modular, light and, in the purest tradition of Scandinavian design, completely sober. This avant-garde furniture design was later widely adopted, but since 1949, following the plans of Nisse Strinning, the shelf String has always been made in Sweden, delivered in flat packs, and although the range has been extended by the addition of new finishes and more specific storage solutions, its design remains unchanged.
