String furniture modular shelving units in steel

The modular String furniture shelves in steel embody a vision of storage that is at once rigorous and elegant, inherited from post-war Scandinavian design. Designed to adapt to every configuration, the steel String furniture system is built on a logic of combinable modules: uprights, shelves and accessories fit together freely to create a bespoke piece of furniture, with no tools and no constraints. With 93 items available at The Cool Republic, this selection covers the full range of formats and configurations offered by the brand in this material. Founded in Sweden in 1949, String furniture set a standard in modular furniture with its String System, originally conceived by Nisse Strinning. The steel version of this system retains the constructive DNA of the original shelf, while bringing a strength and dimensional precision unique to metal. The lacquered steel uprights hold shelves in a variety of depths and widths, making it possible to build low, tall, asymmetrical or corner compositions to suit the space available. The colour palette covers the most sought-after shades in contemporary interiors; for specific alternatives, the black String furniture shelves or the white String furniture shelves complement this steel selection with their own finishes. The brand's full range of String furniture shelves can also be browsed for an overview of the catalogue.

This system is as well suited to workspaces as it is to residential interiors. In an office, the steel configurations hold books, files and technical equipment with dependable stability. In a living room or bedroom, they give visual structure to a wall without weighing it down. Steel pairs naturally with pale wood, polished concrete or matt ceramic. To take the scheme further, the String furniture desks extend the composition in aesthetic and functional harmony with the shelves you choose.
