Founded in 1999 by Jan Andersen and Poul Madsen, Normann Copenhagen is a design brand based in Denmark. Its primary aim is to create products that combine originality and innovation through a simple, contemporary idea of design, built to stand the test of time thanks to a meticulous choice of materials. Making the ordinary extraordinary is the challenge the label takes on with its high-quality designs. The brand's catalogue is constantly growing and today includes dozens of collections spanning furniture, lighting, textiles and interior accessories.

Form is a flagship collection from Normann Copenhagen and one of its best-sellers today. This line of chairs and tables brings together simplicity and functionality. Conceived by the brand's favourite designer, Simon Legald, it began life as his graduation project at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 2012, for which he was named top of his year. From that original idea, he then spent three years developing what is now the celebrated seating collection: Form.

The designer describes it in his own words: "I have developed a technique that allows the connections between the frame and the seat to become a natural, integral part of the design. The frame is fixed by a single plastic mould, which gives the impression that it emerges from the shell. This lends flexibility to the design and makes it possible to vary the frame in many ways. The Form Chair is a combination of traditional craftsmanship and design history. At the same time, it is entirely unique."

Legald pays particular attention to the making of his products, and especially to the materials used. First there is the signature polypropylene seat, but it is the legs of the pieces that vary.
