The Stemlite was inspired by the strong, organic and slender stems that support flower heads in nature.
It was the first "total look" lamp, a pioneering new typology conceived by American designer Bill Curry, which replaced the traditional base plus lampshade form with a single self-contained unit comprising interchangeable modules.
The Stemlite was inspired by the strong, organic, yet slender stems that support flower heads in nature. It features compose a die-cast metal base, evoking a tulip stem, topped by a blown glass globe à la mouth, and a simple cylinder-shaped rotary switch that rolls gently between your fingers from "on" to "off".
