The Bright Malus pendant light by Nordic Tales explores our connection with nature. Malus means "apple" in Latin. Did you know that there are more than 7,500 types of apple in the world? Yet they all share the same iconic shape. This shape feels natural to us and has been hanging above our heads for millions of years.
The resemblance to an apple is visible not only in the beautiful outline of the lamp, defined by mouth-blown glass, but the loose swing of the cord also mimics a natural stem. Just as an apple is supplied with nutrients through its stem, the Bright Malus is lit through its stem. The lighting is made from two mouth-blown mirrored shells. One is opaque, the other diffuse. It casts three different types of light: a light directed towards the table for optimal colour rendering, a diffuse upward light that does not dazzle, and a semi-diffuse light to avoid a harsh shadow between the directed light and the surroundings.
The pendant light measures 24.9 cm in diameter and 20 cm in height. The cable holding the Bright Malus measures 2 m, the power cable measures 3 m and is available in cream or black. This version is the one with the black cable.
