Hypnotic and robust, this tray Dune was designed by the designer Marco Bellini in 2010 for the Italian house Kartell. Plus that a simple everyday object, the Dune tray in its "smoked" version is a real work of art in which our eyes can only drown.
This design tray is made from PMMA (transparent or tinted in the mass), a plastic material that is easy to process and will withstand the wear and tear of time. This material, which makes this piece a very light object, is here sculpted from the inside: restless waves, cascades of flames and torrents of rain seem to move on this tray à la surface perfectly smooth on one side and slightly rough on the other. This three-dimensional illusion is enhanced by the translucent colour and the random light intensity of this contemporary unique tray. The tray Dune with its almost magical finish is a decorative and functional object on which the crockery seems to float elegantly. Leaving no-one indifferent, this tray with a thousand reflections can be used in the way classique to carry glasses and cups, but can also be displayed on a wooden coffee table or in a designer piece of furniture in the dining room.
Also available in a "Cristal" version and larger sizes (55x38cm), this rectangular tray is also available at The Cool Republic in a chrome version à la with a shiny, metallic surface.
Specialising in high-end plastic products, the Italian company Kartell was founded in 1949 by the chemical engineer Giulio Castelli. Today it is accompanied by great designers (Starck, Tokujin Yoshioka, Marco Zanuso…) that Kartell is still exploiting plus the potential of plastic, a material to which the brand has managed to infuse a very precious design side.
