Composition : The lamp arm is made from powder-coated steel. The lamp shade is made from spun, powder-coated aluminum. The diffuser is made from injection-moulded PMMA. The base is made from colored cement. The light source is a user-replaceable LED with stepless dimming. It provides 750 lumens at 100% brightness. Lumen maintenance (80%) exceeds 35,000 hours. The color temperature is 2700K with a CRI above 90. The lamp arm allows for smooth height adjustment by a subtle twist of the counterweight, ranging from approximately 260 cm to 30 cm from the ground. The base allows for sideways rotation, enabling multiple positioning options.

Designed by Jamie Wolfond for Muuto, the Contra floor lamp is based on a simple principle: a powder-coated steel arm, a counterweight and a coloured concrete base. A gentle twist of the counterweight is enough to slide the lampshade up or down, with no locking point or visible mechanism. The base pivots laterally, allowing the light to be directed where it is needed.
The spun and powder-coated aluminium lampshade houses an injection-moulded PMMA diffuser, which softens the beam. The LED source is continuously dimmable and user-replaceable. Its warm colour temperature and high colour rendering index faithfully reproduce the hues of fabrics, woods and artworks hung on the walls.
Contra finds its place behind an armchair, above a coffee table or in a living room corner. Set high, it illuminates the room broadly. Lowered close to the floor, it becomes a precise reading lamp. The mass of the concrete base visually anchors the whole and balances the fineness of the arm.
