Created in 1970 by Livio Castiglioni and Gianfranco Frattini, and described by Domus as "an endless serpent of light", it immediately entered the history of Italian and international design. Its structure in soft translucent PVC, reinforced and fitted with resin terminals, makes it practically indestructible. The individual elements can be connected in series up to a maximum of four pieces, which can be coiled at will. It emits a diffused light and its timeless design makes it an evergreen suited to any setting. Thanks to its flexibility, which makes it truly one of a kind, it can be placed on the floor or on a table, hung or twisted to invent new plays of light every day. Produced from 1970 to 1983 and slightly modified in 1999, it has now been re-engineered, replacing the classic bulbs with high-efficiency LEDs. Boalum is part of numerous design museum collections, starting with the Philadelphia Museum of Modern Art and the Italian Design Museum in Milan.
