Evoking the interplay of warp and weft in textiles, the Ami Ami chair – whose name literally means "to weave" in Japanese – was born of the designer's wish to reproduce one of the traditional stylistic motifs of his culture: interlacing.

Its simple, square lines contrast with the richness of the interlaced work, particularly evident on the inner and outer surfaces, achieved through a complex industrial process that succeeds in recreating the motif using a single mould.
