Designer Antonino Sciortino

Working primarily with mild steel, Antonino Sciortino has created contemporary collections for Serax that combine industrial materials with pared-back forms. Drawing inspiration from his past as a choreographer, he translates the light, dynamic gestures of dance into the slender, curving lines found in many of his creations. Seeking to convey pure forms and to play with the tactile qualities of materials, Sciortino has developed collections of tables, lamps, seating, shelves, baskets and bowls with a singular sculptural presence. In the Gio & Meo collection, he offers original bowls in which beautifully irregular curves and striking colours come together to form vessels that are at once modern, playful and surprising. As a designer who likes to stand out with pieces that balance empty space and solid volume, he presents the Bistro side table collection, whose circular tops, raised on metal rods, form small geometric cages. This light, modern cage effect also appears in the Turn basket collection, available in black or grey metal, as well as in the Bingo table collection, which plays with a sense of balance thanks to a metal frame that is remarkably slender next to the tabletop. Always attentive to the satisfying effect of geometric shapes, Sciortino alternates strict and curving lines in his seating, as seen in the Nello stools or the Stresa armchair, all raised on fine, minimalist legs. Ever keen to offer dynamic designs, he moves from understated shades to bold, vivid tones from one collection to the next. Take the red Slitta chair, for instance: it stands in contrast to the Biculo side table, yet together the two make a handsome pairing for a loft-style or contemporary living room.

The range of furniture on offer will help you find just the piece you need, each one showcasing the unique, functional design that is the designer's signature.
