Designed by PaulinePlusLuis for Hartô, the Carmen M pendant light reduces light to a disc. Its very flat profile stretches a textile laminated onto PVC within a painted metal structure, and this fineness changes everything: seen from the front, it becomes a large coloured circle suspended above the table; seen from the side, it almost disappears. The terracotta shade warms the whole and gives the object a graphic presence, even when switched off.
The integrated LED ribbon diffuses a warm light through the fabric, with no visible source or glare. The lighting remains soft, well suited to a dining room, a counter or a work space where one seeks an enveloping light rather than a marked beam. Dimming is possible, which allows one to adjust the ambiance according to the time of day.
The available cable length leaves real freedom of installation, high beneath a tall ceiling as well as close to the table surface. Designed for indoor use, Carmen M works alone above a piece of furniture, or in repetition along a longer alignment, where its discs compose a regular rhythm.
