GamFratesi designed the Epic coffee table for GUBI as a sculptural piece inspired by Greek columns and Roman architecture, named after the epic poems of ancient times.
Now available in lacquered steel, with a hand-finished surface that lends a living, vibrant quality to the monolithic form, the Epic table in steel is a celebration of the classical in an entirely modern expression.
Inspired by historical examples of travertine constructions such as the Colosseum and St Peter's Basilica in Rome, and by the revival of this material in the 1970s in southern Europe, the table combines two simple geometric shapes, the circle and the hexagon, with references to the classical Greek column…
The steel options in Midnight Black, Misty Grey or Earthy Red complement the tonal options of the Epic travertine range, allowing the two materials to be combined effortlessly.
The various heights and diameters of the Epic Table series mean that a single monochrome table can stand alone or be combined into dynamic groupings of differing heights, colours and materials. The Epic coffee table in steel is available in diameters of 60, 80 and 110 cm.
