Low swivel armchair in black aluminium and brown leather Hyg - Normann Copenhagen

No other word in the Danish language has become as globally famous as "hygge". A word so difficult to define, and yet so simple in practice. Hygge is all about feeling good – security, warmth and comfort are all part of its DNA, and it is precisely these qualities that form the blueprint for Simon Legald's Hyg living room series. With Hyg, Simon Legald has designed an exclusive range in which soft lines and enveloping contours create a cosy, welcoming space. Hyg is made for hygge. The series, which consists of a sofa, armchairs and a pouf, is like an embrace of warm, sincere shapes. The generous silhouette exudes a primal, organic purity. Its voluminous form is offset by a narrow outline that refines its expression. The raised sides gently shield the space, while a wide seat allows for a broad range of relaxed postures. "My vision for Hyg was to create a room within a room; a place that gives you a sense of peace and security, with a playful, free expressiveness. The concave form of the design invites contemplation. You can curl up in the armchair with a cup of coffee and a book, while the sofa version draws attention back towards the centre, towards company and conversation," says Simon Legald.
